True Roots consultant Summer Lewis designed and teaches the online course, “International Development,” based on more than 15 years of experience studying and working in the field in more than 30 countries. The course provides a “real world” perspective on international development via contemporary readings, podcasts, videos, as well as interviews with professionals in the field. Students learn about the theories, actors, and evolution of international development, cooperation, and aid, while analyzing trends and critiques.
Summer teaches “International Development” as an 8-week, online course for the Kansas State University Master of Science Degree in Community Development and the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance.
The “International Development” course is an extension of the services Summer offers as a member of True Roots Consulting Group. True Roots can design and facilitate one-on-one coaching sessions or group trainings on topics in international development, including:
- jump starting your career or studies in international development
- effectively planning, managing, and measuring the impact of international development projects
- navigating the field as an individual, non-profit organization, business, or donor interested in supporting sustainable social responsibility initiatives
